Last month, on the hottest day of the long LA summer, we hit the winding roads of the Angelus National Forest for a shoot that we will truly never forget. We shut down an entire section of the mountain and invited a bunch of our friends with some particularly familiar cars. The result? Last Friday’s video: We Drove Every Car from Initial D.

A TON went into planning and executing this shoot, but the chaos of the night quickly turned into a rhythm as Jimmy and Adam got locked in, commenting on the steering feel, throttle response, the noises, and the significance of each car in the first stage of Initial D. The Polo that Jimmy wore is our version of the NISNO button polo we see worn by Iketani. It proved to be a lightweight, breathable shirt suited perfectly for a hot night out on the canyon.

We immediately knew this video was going to be special so we seized the opportunity to host our first video premiere at the Fujiwara Tofu Cafe in nearby El Monte, CA. We knew that y'all would show up and show out but we weren’t expecting to see over 350 cars and 1000+ people. Some highlights were two Initial D-styled AE86’s, three or four FD3S’s, and Herbie The Love Bug.

This truly was a very special moment for all of us and we’re grateful for everyone who came out. Huge shout out to our team at Donut and our amazing drivers: Chad Garcia, Caleb Yee, Johnson Li, Dakuya Akiyama, Tyler Saldana, and a special special shoutout to Vincent Chan for letting us pull up to Fujiwara Tofu cafe to host our viewing party. You guys are the best!
